Buttermilk Belgian Waffles


  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 T. sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 c. unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla


In a large bowl, sift flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, butter, eggs and vanilla. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients  and combine. Batter will be a little lumpy. Cook in a Belgian waffle maker and enjoy with syrup, and/or homemade whipped cream and strawberries.

I like to cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper, heat the oven to 170F then make my waffles a bit ahead of time, maybe starting 25 minutes before you’re ready to serve them. This recipe will make 7 Belgian waffles.
