Ingredients
- 1 German Chocolate cake mix
- 1 (14 oz.) bag of caramels
- 1/4 c. milk
- 1 stick margarine
- 1 c. chocolate chips
- 1 c. walnuts
- Cool Whip
Directions
Make German Chocolate cake mix (I use Betty Crocker) according to directions. Pour half into a sprayed 9″x13″ pan. Bake at 250F for 22 minutes (or maybe just a little longer until a toothpick comes out clean). Now set oven to 350F. Meanwhile, melt 14 oz. of caramel with 1/4 c. milk and 1 stick margarine. Cool a little. Let cake sit for a few minutes before drizzling the caramel mixture over it. Sprinkle 1 c. chocolate chips and 1 c. chopped walnuts on top. Carefully spread the other half of the cake mix over the caramel, chips and nuts. Bake 350F for 18 minutes. Do not under bake. Serve with Cool Whip.
